SCCDC FAQS for Parents
When Should My Child Come to School?
Lark Street Child Care Center,
KIDZ Club and Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) have attendance polices
that you receive in your parent handbook. However, All Head Start and
daycare slots are competitive.
Regular absences may result in
loss of the space for your child.
Head Start children are
expected to attend class every day unless they are ill. Head Start
is required to monitor children's attendance. The parents are contacted
if a child has been absent for three days. When your child has
been absent, please remember to send in a note explaining why your child
was out. If your child has excessive absences, he or she may be
withdrawn from the program and their space offered to another child on
the waiting list. You will sign an Attendance Policy during the
enrollment process and should save it for your future reference.
Good
attendance is vital
to your child and our
program!
See the Health
Web Page for more information on attendance
What
Should My Child Wear To School?
Your child will be involved in
many different activities during their day at SCCDC. Please dress
your child in comfortable play clothes, so he/she will not need to worry
about getting dirty. The daily experiences include outdoor play
in all but the most severe weather, so please make sure your child is
dressed appropriately. Mittens, boots and hats are needed
each winter school day. Attach mittens to coats to avoid
loss.
Since accidents sometime occur, we suggest
sending a complete change of clothing to be kept in your child's cubbie.
This includes a set of underwear, a pair of socks, a pair of pants and a
shirt. It would be helpful to label everything with your child's
name.
How Can Parents Participate
at SCCDC?
Parents are involved in all aspects of the
agency. They volunteer in classrooms, on field trips or for special
events. Parents are welcome to help out throughout the program at all
centers.
* In Head Start Parents are involved in the
decision making process through a parent Policy Council. All centers
have parent representatives elected to the Policy Council.
In Lark Street Child Care
Center and KIDZ Club, parents are involved in LSCCC Parent Advisory
Committee.
