Board of Directors
Composition
The composition of the Board of Director's consists of
an average of 10 members with one member a current, or former, Head
Start parent. The balance of the membership will include
professionals from the community including members to represent the
following professional disciplines : general membership, expertise
in early childhood education, human services, technology, real estate,
teen pregnancy, business people and educators. A licensed attorney and
fiscal consultant are under contract to the board of directors. Board
members are volunteers and serve without compensation.

Attend board meetings –

Serve on a standing
committee
Make an annual in-kind
financial contribution to the organization in addition to serving on
the board
Attend social
functions supporting the organization
Be a public supporter of the organization
Participate in at least one organizational service
project/event annually
Executive Committee
The executive committee is composed of the President, Vice
President, Secretary/
Treasurer.
The Executive Committee has the responsibility and authority to oversee
all operations of the Council in the interim between meetings of the
board, subject to by laws or policies and procedures established by the
Board. The Executive Committee shall serve as personnel and operational
committee when needed.
Duties of Officers and Directors
PRESIDENT: The President acts as official
spokesperson for the Council , presides over all meetings of the
Executive Committee, the Board of Directors and the Council.
VICE PRESIDENT: The Vice President assists the
President in carrying out his/her duties, while also learning the
operations and leadership skills necessary to serve as President of the
Council should the President be unable to fulfill his/her
responsibilities. The Vice President assists in carrying out the
decisions of the Council and Board as assigned by the President.
SECRETARY/TREASURER: The Secretary/Treasurer
shall: Conduct roll call of participants and determine if a quorum had
been reached at meetings. Participate on the by laws revisions
committee, sign such correspondence as may be required. Attend all
meetings of the Finance/Fundraising committee. Assist in the development
of the association budget.
